Long time reader Emoeke Ullmann and I are friends on Facebook. When I saw her beautiful posts about a little-known Mindo ecolodge, I asked if she would be willing to write a few words. After all, we have only visited Mindo one time as we tend to gravitate towards the Tandayapa Valley. What follows are Emoeke’s impressions of the La Bicok Ecolodge with accompanying photos by her bird-loving husband, Nikolaj Ullmann. Thanks to them both for this guest post!
A Mindo Ecolodge Worth Visiting
La Bicok Ecolodge is situated near the center of the village of Mindo and has only seven rooms. There is a nice garden here with a lot of blooming plants and a swimming pool. It is very quiet here, a place for relaxing with excellent meals.
Over a small bridge, it is easy to visit the town of Mindo with only a few minutes’ walk. There you will find several travel agencies willing to book day trips and excursions.
This lodge is popular with local Ecuadorians. The owner is French and the staff primarily speak Spanish. If you decide to visit here, you should have at least basic Spanish.
